Class of 2020

KG Mini Prom Fest 24 July 2020 (154 of 297)

Mini Prom

School may have been out for most of the academic year, but for the Class of 2020 it definitely didn’t feel like it was over! The news of no exams came as a relief to some, but the cancellation of the most talked about social event of school life landed like a deflated balloon, PROM! Thanks Covid.

As some of our own at Kissing Gate turned Sweet 16 we felt they needed to finish their school-days the right way and so we created two personal, unique and intimate prom celebrations. Supported by Kaz at Confetti Coast Photography we did what we do best, planning every aspect and transforming outdoor spaces into picture perfect venues! Joined by a handful of local suppliers, the Mini Festival and Eco Beach Proms were brought to life.

All moments were beautifully shot by Kaz at Confetti Coast Photography. Kaz uses her ‘reportage’ style photography, capturing all things as they naturally unfold to tell a story. With a passion for photography and a genuine  love for nature there was no one better to ask to photograph Kissing Gate’s Mini Proms; her love and passion shine through in her work and gentle personality.Check out the Mini Festival gallery!

Festival Vibes

An explosion of vibrant colours oozing with youthful energy

One sunny Friday in July, six energetic and excited teens joined us in their bubble for their Mini Festival! Dove Lea Farm’s quaint shepherds hut and tranquil grounds played host to Kissing Gate’s Mini Festival Prom. Nestled besides a renowned local English Heritage site, Titchfield Abbey, it was a meaningful backdrop to the local teens. The grounds were lit with one of Kissing Gate’s favourite decorations, paper globes. These are so effective at providing instant bright colour, ideal for this occasion! Teamed with a few props scattered around, the lighting literally linked all the different settings together that we’d created, shepherd’s hut, chill-out bell tent, outside dining and fire-pit area.

Kissing Gates’s canvas bell tent was beautifully dressed with plush cushions, handmade furniture, more paper globes, local meadow flowers and sunflowers from Hollam Nurseries and eye catching designs from Olivia Grace Art. The door of the bell tent was draped with a bright and playful wool garland, courtesy of Charlotte’s Crafty Cottage.

Liz Cooper aka The Artful Hair Stylist, magically styled our prom goers with unique hair designs at her log cabin boho salon nestled in Catherington Downs, Hampshire. Using vegan products Liz performs pure hair Wizardry with her undone boho styling. Follow Liz on Instagram, I never tire of seeing her work!

Gorgeous flower crowns topped the heads of artfully styled hair. Beaming with colour and elegant ribbons, these pieces really were just beautiful. Helena, from Bloom in Stubbington, also made buttonholes and a cute corsage. These pieces were so dainty with every flower perfectly placed.  My favourite piece was a flamboyant floral crown consisting of mini sunflowers, eucalyptus and viburnum berries. I just thought it was absolutely stunning!

This combined live photo shoot and Mini Prom boasted Kissing Gate’s finest High Tea, minus the alcohol! The prom goers raised a glass and devoured our tasty treats; mini beet wraps, finger sandwiches, cruffins, Victoria sponge and Melted’s award winning brownies to name a few. These were washed down with a little local fizz and smooth ice coffee courtesy of Lymington’s Coffee Mongers

.

Kissing Gate’s Mini Proms were such a success! If you’re looking to hold a unique and intimate prom or arrange something similar to celebrate your child’s academic accomplishments then why not contact us to find out more about what’s on offer for 2021 at Kissing Gate Events.
